Visit to Greenhouse Beauty
Back in September Drew’s Honeybees collaborated with another small business in eastern Connecticut called Greenhouse Beauty. The event took place at Greenhouse Beauty in Old Lyme, CT. We brought live honeybees to the event in an observation hive. An observation hive has two or more glass panels that allow you to view the inner workings of the hive. Traveling to Greenhouse Beauty, I had to sit in the back of the car as Drew had to keep his hand on the hive to prevent the bees from getting jostled as the frames could move in the hive if there were a quick turn.
We arrived at Greenhouse Beauty and got set up as Drew would be giving a presentation about his company and the importance of honeybees. He talked about how Drew’s honeybees started and how he ended up making natural products. He then talked about different ways of beekeeping and how bees can adjust easily to being relocated for pollination, which is how bees pollinate most of our fruit, veggies, nuts and beans.
I enjoyed the presentation because it was a good opportunity to represent the brand and educate people about the importance of bees. The audience contained both kids and adults who were surprised to learn just how large an impact bees have on everyday life, including the food we eat, the products we use, and the earth we inhabit. At the event, we gave out samples of some lip balms giving away Original, Citrus Blossom and Cocoa. We also gave away pollinator seed packets for attendees to make as small part of their yard a pollinator garden in the spring. It is a great way to get attendees involved helping the bees and the environment.
It was a great opportunity for Drew’s Honeybees and Greenhouse Beauty as both small businesses were able to work together and support each other, it’s a great thing when small business can work and help to promote each other.
We made a video of Drew’s presentation. You can check it out on YouTube.
